Reaching a New Milestone

We're thrilled that the Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic has now raised over $106,000 in thirteen years toward local student scholarships, the Flagler Food Bank, and The Marfan Foundation. Since 1998, more than 100 high school and college students have been awarded $71,000 to help them achive their goals in college education and their career dreams beyond. For ten years, the Tommy Tant has also supported the Flagler Food Bank, providing hundreds of holiday meals for needy families across Flagler County. And since 2011, $12,000 has been donated to The Marfan Foundation to aid their work in research, awareness, and care for patients living with Marfan syndrome and related genetic disorders.

You can help us celebrate this major milestone of more than $100K given back to Flagler Beach by making a donation, spreading the word about these causes, and bringing your family and friends to the Tommy Tant this weekend! Thank you for helping to support the local community!

How did the Tommy Tant scholarship help you fulfill your dreams?

”After spending time travelling to Managua, Nicaragua with Will Tant and many other members of the extended Tommy Tant family, I decided to study Civil Engineering in hopes that I could serve in the effort to develop infrastructure in places of need in my own community and around the world. The generous support provided through the Tommy Tant scholarship has helped fund my academic pursuits through the past two years at Florida's flagship university for engineering, which has helped bring me closer to this goal.”

I have received the Scholarship four years in a row now, and each year it has releived the burden of high tuition costs as well as the copious amount of books that come along with the becoming a teacher. How did the Tommy Tant scholarship help you fulfill your dreams?

“I am currently a sophomore in the UNF Honors and Scholars Program majoring in Chemistry. The Tommy Tant scholarship is helping me fulfill my dream of becoming an anesthesiologist. I was able to purchase books, a laptop, printer, and pay for other expenses related to my pre-medical studies. Without this memorial scholarship, it would have been difficult each year to have the necessary funding to continue my education. I am eternally grateful for this experience and once I am a physician, I will always look back and think about how this event has molded who I am.”
